IN MEMORIAM
On November 13, at the age of 84 the outstanding orientalist, Tibetan scholar and explorer Tsering Dorje passed away. Tsering Dorje dedicated his life to studying the Himalayan regions of India, and the culture of Tibet in the Buddhist and pre-Buddhist period. He extensively travelled and explored the flora, fauna, ethnography, and geology of the Himalayas. He studied the forgotten language of ancient Tibet: Shangshung. The Tibetan and Buddhist scholars from all over the world visited Tsering Dorje, who has always tried his best to assist them in their studies, and happily shared with them his extensive knowledge, remaining all the while an extremely down-to-earth and humble person. He was a friend and associate of Dalai Lama XIV. In his young years Tsering Dorje personally knew George Roerich and took part in his research work. He studied and actively promoted the heritage of the great Roerich family. In 2009, he founded the Lahaul Roerich Society and has acted as its Vice President. Due to his valuable support Nicholas Roerich’s studio in Keylong was reconstructed. Tsering Dorje has always taken active part in the activities of the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT) in Naggar, Himachal Pradesh.

And the restoration of the Roerich’s workshop begins! August 2017.
Helena Roerich spent the summer of 1930 in Keylong. Nicholas Roerich with his wife Helena were here both summers of 1931 and ‘ 32. This workshop was built for Nicholas Roerich as his rented house lacked space.
In September, we are expecting for these works to be completed, and you will be able to view the fully refurbished the Roerich’s House. Visitors will have the opportunity to attend an exhibition inside, which will be fully dedicated to Roerich works.
Locals honour Nicholas Roerich and his heritage, and are very excited about the works. Just as excited as they were back in 1932 when he first visited. This initiative was financially granted by the local authorities and international Roerich societies, and was supported by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India.

Roerich’s heritage Register in India added a new memorial sites

On one of the three surviving walls of the house, which was built in 1929-30 years in the Himalayan valley Lahul by founder of the famous dynasty of Nicholas Roerich, was on Wednesday fixed a plaque in honor of this event.
As told to TASS Estonian Roerich Society activist Sergey Yakovlev, ” “Despite the fact that is located near the highest settlement Kelong, a ruined house with pent roof and survived only three walls, is in poor condition, this property for many years attracted the attention of European tourists.” According to him, the restoration project of the Roerich’s summer art studio was initiated in 2012 by Estonian Roerich Society (ESM) with the support of the Russian Embassy in India and the state government of Himachal Pradesh.

Sergey Yakovlev over 10 years comes to Kelong within the volunteer program. According to Tsering Dorjee, the state government of Himachal Pradesh are sincerely interested in the fact that the valley was created in Lahul another Roerich Museum and Memorial Center. НЬЮ-ДЕЛИ, 19 октября. /Корр. ТАСС Евгения Кармалито/. Реестр наследия российской семьи художников, философов и исследователей Рерихов в Индии пополнился новым объектом. На одной из трех сохранившихся стен дома, который был построен в 1929-30 годах в гималайской долине Лахул основателем знаменитой династии Николаем Рерихом, была в среду закреплена мемориальная табличка в честь этого события.
Как рассказал ТАСС активист эстонского общества Рерихов Сергей Яковлев, “домик с разрушенной односкатной крышей, сохранивший лишь три стены, расположенный близ высокого поселения Келонг, долгие годы привлекал внимание европейских туристов”. По его словам, проект восстановления рериховской летней художественной студии был инициирован в 2012 году эстонским обществом Рерихов (ЭОР) при поддержке посольства России в Индии и администрации штата Химачал-Прадеш. Активное участие в его реализации принимает известный тибетолог Церинг Дорджи, который на протяжении многих лет поддерживал близкие личные контакты с замечательной русской семьей, для которой Индия стала второй родиной.
“Это место непосредственно связано не только с яркими страницами в творчестве выдающегося русского художника, философа, ученого и путешественника, – сказал Сергей Яковлев, более 10 лет приезжающий сюда по зову сердца в рамках волонтерской программы. – Надеемся, что оно станет ещё одним притягательным магнитом для всех, кто стремится глубже познать наследие Рерихов, а также для путешественников, открывающих для себя источники высокой духовности и красоты в малоизвестных уголках великой Индии”.
По словам Церинга Дорджи, правительство штата Химачал-Прадеш искренне заинтересовано в том, чтобы в долине Лахуль был создан еще один рериховский музейно-мемориальный центр. “На первом этапе необходимо полностью восстановить облик домика, где Николай Рерих творил в течение летних сезонов 1929-1931 годов. – отметил он. – В дополнение к средствам, собранным энтузиастами из ЭОР, правительство штата выделило деньги на создание необходимой инфраструктуры, включая прокладку всесезонной автомобильной дороги. Рассчитываем, что первый этап работ будет выполнен в 2017 году”.
Домик Рерихов в долине Лахул служил для Николая Константиновича и его супруги Елены Ивановны своеобразной творческой лабораторией – сокровенным источником духовных откровений, который наполнял глубинным содержанием их произведения. Сюда они регулярно приезжали из своего имения в местечке Наггар в долине Кулу, где ныне действует Международный мемориальный трест Рерихов (ММТР), в летний период, когда открывались дороги через заснеженное гималайское высокогорье.
Тогда в дневниках Н.К.Рериха появилась такая запись: “Мы опять едим в Лахул. За перевалом Ротангом уже повеял сухой тибетский воздух. Тот самый воздух, целительный и вдохновляющий. Знающий в себе всех искателей духовного восхождения”.
